Season To Taste - Piano soft rock at it's finest.
Salterszo is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist hailing from Belfast, Northern Ireland. He has been churning out tunes for over a decade and became a runner up semi-finalist in the UK Songwriting competition.
While piano is no stranger on Salterszo tunes this album sets the ebony & ivory finger roll buffet front and centre. Overall the album boasts themes of Americana, love & loss, redemption and the elusive search for something better in life. Such lyrical quotes as "What use is love if it can't be free" sum up all you need ever ask oneself.
Track highlights 'Tourist Attraction' up-tempo piano rock to 'If I Ever Love Again' a ballad already released as a the first single, 'Sunshine State' a slice of life in San Francisco and 'Prayer For You & I' another ballad of love and loss.
Overall I give it a rating of ★7/10. Steve would be first to state he's no singer but costs constrain from hiring a pro voice to highlight his songs. Production suffers on some tracks and a few 'album fillers' also sneak on to the playlist, obviously recording in a home studio has its draw backs and being a one man writer, artist, producer, mixer can suffer from that all important critical ear, but sonically it holds up rather well when stacked against high end commercial releases.
Season To Taste has established itself as a regular favourite on my current playlist. I cannot give anymore a recommendation than that.
